I'm enthusiastic about Mamdani wanting New York City to build and operate grocery stores. When a market failure causes problems in the lives of a municipality's residents, I want them to be able to step up and fix it. Not enough housing? Build some! Broadband bad? Build it! Food desert? Run stores!

One good thing about Jen Fleisher being elected is that it will no longer take horrifying abuse of mass surveillance systems by the police state (that btw was exactly what was predicted by local advocates) before a majority of council realizes these programs are in fact bad.
