There was also no save function, so hopefully players also took some great notes! Haunted Palace didn't shake the line-drawn pillars of heaven the way other games did at the time, but it bravely took a stab at blending a few neat ideas of its own into a horror flavored mystery quest.
Show PostPlayers chose from six characters, each with their own stats and described in the manual with a short bio. Stats worked a bit differently than in traditional RPGs here: Strength was your health, for instance, and Courage reflected your damage potential. Sadly, you can't be Herman the Cat.
