in 2020 my lab quit Microsoft Word and began writing in R Markdown, an open-source document-publishing system that facilitates a clear, permanent link between statements in text (scientific prose) and the code producing analyses and visualizations supporting those statements (scientific analyses)

Show Posttaking music seriously made me notice one big meta-skill if you're going to make the move from appreciation to performance, you better figure out how to enjoy the struggle. That's not out of some vague stoic sense; it's just that the ratio of time spent struggling vs performing is like 20-50:1
