I can’t decide if people who assert that contemporary AIs can think or are conscious do so out of fear or out of envy. But I can say that any such people do so either out of emotion or perhaps driven by some pecuniary interest in it being true, not from any fully informed or defensible position.

AI companies should be investigated for federal/state cyber safety laws they have broken. If I had hacked hugging face, I would face investigations, why aren't they? What about the financial fraud and stock market manipulation? When this bubble bursts it will collapse the US economy even further.

They want you to believe "AI" is just like in the movies. It's just cloud software, a useful tool. Laws on the books should be enforced first. Any new laws should regulate current abuses and problems not covered by existing legislation. Let's not get sidetracked by scifi nonsense.
