I watched Gilmore Girls as an adult, because I wasn’t allowed to as a teen, and I had a very, very different read on it than the average millennial in the Gilmore Girls reddit. The last season, when Rory actually matures and goes off to live her life is such a happy, optimistic ending.

This is all to say that I actually think it's a decent representation of generational trauma being passed down even when you have the best of intentions but you have to take off any rose-colored glasses you might have from watching the show as a teenager and idolizing who Lorelai is as a mother.
