This is such a wild statement, to not make stuff for specific audiences, and I do see a lot of that, even in game dev. Don't listen to that advice, please do very specific merch for very specific audiences, if people wanted generic stuff they can get it at walmart already! Those shirts rule btw!

Makers need to spend less time teying to appeal to a broad audience and more time finding the people who genuinely connect with things that come from our spirits (Oh and actually creating but 🫠) Because when we try to appeal to everyone, we lose the things that make us special in the first place.

I have to constantly remind myself that people ultimately support my work because of my tastes, the weird decisions I make, the things that set whatever it is I do apart from whatever else they can find anywhere else. Our taste, style, quirks, and idiosyncrasies are the point, not a detractor.
