Based on their public comments, NYT leaders view the kind of insider details discovered by Haberman and others as essential to understanding Trump. I don't think that's correct. Public documents (Project 2025) and events (Jan 6, DOGE) to me describe this presidency better than insider accounts.

the NYT believes that the only valid criticisms of Trump are those from the right. they present that as unbiased or uniquely truthful, but of course it just means that you're privileging the perspectives of Nazis. that makes you less insightful, not more.

I would say that insider accounts actually obscure understanding of Trump, inasmuch as the people "inside" are all fascists and conspiracy theorists largely divorced from reality and of course from any moral sense.
