Seen it with everyone from Jacob Gellar to JK Rowling. Like, yeah, in some cases, there are definitely issues with the original art that point towards the things the creator did (see Neil Gaiman's recurring stories about the 'nice guy' feminist who still assaults women) but thats not the point here.

Whenever we talk about a problematic artist, some ppl in the comments always go, "Well, I always knew X's art always sucked." Like... ok? Not really the point, but glad you're making it clear you were never "tainted". It's more about making clear their purity than engaging with the conversation.

with Gaiman and Rowling it’s extra annoying because a lot of it is just smug genre hate from literary snobs who think fantasy is for children. I always want to be like “hey real quick, Serious Intellectual, how many Woody Allen and Roman Polanski DVDs are on your shelf” it’ll be your guy someday!!!

Also, he doesn't remember Stolas has a kid. He looks straight at him and says he has NO responsibilities. He doesn't KNOW how torn up he is about Via. Vassago doesn't know her except one passing comment about the necklace. He can't relate on being a parent at all, a huge part of Stolas' identity.
