Obsidian is fantastic on so many levels, but it's not as visual or intuitive as Notion. There is a learning curve. But it's so much better for building a knowledge base over time and ensuring your files are YOURS. Definitely don't go crazy with plugins. Test some, but keep only the needed ones.

Start small, keep it simple. So you can get the benefit of the tool without feeling overwhelmed. As you are using it, you will see patterns, and only then look for plugins, extensions, advanced features. The only tool that maybe useful from the beginning is Obsidian Web Clipper browser extension.
