Last for tonight. Atmospheric Frank Meadow Sutcliffe photograph of Pier Road in Whitby. The area was steeped in the town’s maritime history and whilst the road now has more of a seaside feel, it is not hard to imagine what it would have been like in earlier times.

Will one day have to teach my daughter she shouldn’t hold hands with random boys she has met 30 seconds before on the 380. Especially the sort of cads who will leave you in tears when they get off in Blackheath.
