Political funding is too concentrated, and we can see large donors buy influence. Most of Reform’s funding has come from donations over £100k. In 2023, nearly a third of all money given to political parties came from nine sources. We need donation caps, so politics can be shaped by voters instead.

Nice piece, @ryanswift93.bsky.social I enjoyed it. When discussing fiscal devolution, we might also advocate for stronger mechanisms of redistribution between places -- as not all areas will benefit equally from devolution.

Today, Lloyds Banking Group officially announced that the historic 173-year-old Halifax brand will be retired. marking the end of an era that began in 1853 when the Halifax Permanent Benefit Building and Investment Society was founded at the Old Cock Inn in Halifax (below)

Fascinating insights in our latest blog by @davehawkey.bsky.social - the Holyrood election produced a 7th parliament very similar to the 6th. However, voter turnout was much reduced, and frustration among voters heightened - politicians need to ponder what needs to change before the next election.
