though this is also just kind of a broader trend in video games people massively criticize things that are unbalanced so being extremely balanced is put as a high priority, and its hard to have weird quirks when you make games like that

Why do we keep on doing this? Praising a 'small core team' for a game with 1100+ people in the credits is incredibly misleading. This PR narrative hurts, hides the massive shadow workforce of outsourced developers and testers, and sets impossible standards for actual indie teams.

Physical also treats software AND packaging as the merch. I'm old and remember when record album art used to mean something as cultural icons, even historical artifacts. Digital gives me little to admire. Given the big budgets for game development, it's tragic how little goes into making them merch.
