Web technology is more exciting than ever, but I feel like a lot of joy and whimsy has been lost. I'm not sure why that is, though. Part of it might be the layers of tooling every project seems to "need". Social platforms have also funnelled people away from the larger web.

Part of me is excited about all of the new web features. The other part of me is disappointed that handcrafted websites are fading, and my expertise doesn't seem valuable to BigCorp™.
