My progressive values haven’t changed. I just recognize that political realities differ from state to state. To me, pragmatism isn’t abandoning progressive principles. It’s understanding the difference between what we want and what’s politically possible.

One more point: The far left on social media labels me a moderate, as some kind of slam, because I support some moderate candidates, even though I can’t name a progressive issue I don’t support. I’m a pragmatic progressive. I get what works politically in NY or CA won’t work in deep-red Iowa.
