I am wiling to bet that the same is true for cyclists. Making the roads safer with deliveristas in mind will boost mode share and will benefit everyone. Future research project idea!

Transportation planning has an unfortunate history of caring more about "choice riders" (of e.g. public transit) than people who use it out of necessity. Non-choice riders are forced to use the system no matter how bad, so there's no rush to improve it. This is wrong, both morally and scientifically

At the War On Cars show last night, @shawnmicallef.bsky.social said that bike delivery riders have brought a critical mass of cyclists to Toronto. It's true: they are the ones out there navigating the roads year-round, in all weather. They are cyclists and they deserve support and safety.
