I can recall quite enough bother with people relying on inaccurate references from some secondary literature (reluctant to believe 'they got it wrong'), and I worry this churns out refs to material that is in repository but not or only partially catalogued, has restrictions, etc

Also that phenomenon whereby people took existence of a file on person/institution in some other person/institution's archive to signify an actual entire archive.
