Finished Goodbye Lara. A bit mixed on the ending. I get what they were trying to do, but at the same time.. its so badly executed...
Show Postif the ending was intended to make us think -- well it sure did! is this similar to how Hans Christian Andersen's tales ended? maybe! probably! whether Mari and Lara are love each-other is no debate; and no kiss is necessary to tell us that. but that epilogue had such strange directorial decisions
Show Postusing a shadow to symbolize Kota instead of outright showing him, for who knows what reason. hiding Lara's face in almost every shot for those last 6 minutes. and the fact that it's a timeskip of 6 months and we are left with no idea what happened in-between.
Show Postall i can really say is that epilogue was made in such a clunky way. vague writing that confused everyone in that Luca scene. a cold, emotionless separation that doesn't even give Mari any reassurance that she'll remain in touch (Lara's moving the next bay over, for crying out loud!)
Show Post"It's a 40 minute train ride! Relationships can still happen!" okay but why is it framed like Lara is going off to fucking war and Mari can't say goodbye because the idea of not seeing Lara again is heartwrenching.
