We had decades to densify areas like Bloor West in more gentle ways and the residents always said no. The people who call Line 4 white elephant probably don't realise that before the Sheppard line opened, there was a bus scheduled to arrive at Sheppard-Yonge every 75 seconds in the AM Peak. The subway was able to significantly reduce crowding on Sheppard despite only going as far as Don Mills.
