Moreover, at best you are going to reproduce the existing pathologies of the social housing sector. We already knows what this looks like and it’s bad. Lifetime tenancies you can pass on to your kids with rent controls except now for the whole private sector, so no one will ever move again.

Ultimately until the Uk grasps the nettle and builds 4-7m more homes on top of the 250k/year we need for demographic change and population growth, then landlords will continue to have market power and tenants will have to compete with other tenants to show they are the lowest hassle tenants.

Just very confusing. The environmental charities quoted seem totally confused about how much better it is to build these data centres in the UK than elsewhere. Moving this compute elsewhere is bad for the planet? www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
