Dark Academia – How Universities Die, by Peter Fleming I'm not very optimistic that academia can change for the better - I think it's too far gone - but this book at least identifies most of what is wrong. Perhaps, if enough of us read it, we can try to reverse the decline.

And perhaps extend the usual deadlines across the board? I turned down so much peer review atm because the deadline is so short, and it’s an automated email so there’s no option to ask for more time.

On Friday I'm going to try and give a seminar on campus, which is definitely going to be a challenge after WFH for >2 years... So a lovely colleague contacting me to say they now have a couch in their office which I'm welcome to use if I need some down time is bringing a tear to my eye. 🥹 #LongCOVID
