my most Civil Servantbrained take is that there should be a government-owned estate agent and conveyancing service which is basically the default service, like with Passports, given that so much of it is coordination failures and transferring government records and such
Show PostI don't think it's right that for example, the RAF is able to conduct defensive operations for the KSA without parliamentary approval. We should have robust constitutional safeguards that still allow for legitimate military actions.
Show PostIMO the Scottish government's proposal on a constitutional triple lock for overseas military operations seemed sensible the best 1. in accordance with the UN Charter 2. agreed by Ministers as a matter of collective responsibility and as being in line with domestic law 3. approved by Parliament
Show PostYeah I don't actually think Burnham realises that if he turned around said "this is completely fucked" and immediately put forward legislation to bring us back into line with human rights standards – LGBT+ people would be organising street parties.
Show PostIt’s not that I’m mad at them for doing these little things; it’s that I’m mad at them for the big and horrible shit that they are also doing, and their choice to focus on the little things just feels intentionally disingenuous in the light of that
