I haven’t seen private equity do any good at all. They have completely decimated the ophthalmology practices they have taken over. I don’t even feel good referring to them any more because patients come back with awful stories.

Thank you for this essay. Healthcare in the U. S. is in crisis mode. Two of my long-time orthopedic doctors no longer participate in Medicare and my cardiologist recently told me my care is being rationed. And I’ve paid into Medicare since I was 16 years old.
