Wouldn't say that Avi's work will be for nothing. Anjali Appadurai inspired thousands to take the BC NDP in a different direction. Her supporters didn't disappear. The problem with the BC NDP is the same as the US Democrats. There's a party oligarchy that is too comfortable with the way things are.
