Actually it was due to CDOs that were rated much higher then was their due given the subprime mortgages that they were ladened with. It was the failure of the rating houses and the securities firms packaging the securities because (I would argue) margin for the securities was extremely lucrative.

I'm seeing it in person too and would not be surprised if an influence operation was underway but like covid anti-vax and all that other crazy stuff, weapons grade stupid is indistinguishable from the perfect psyop so I guess we'll never know.

Try latest Claude Code Fable 5, and point it at a small codebase, especially something network facing, and just ask it to find bugs. Extremely effective little tool :)
