That last statement, “There’s no loss here! Just absence of imagined gain”, perfectly sums up the state of the whole economy. It’s not that investors want profit. They want MORE profit every year because they dreamed of having more profit.

the article doesn’t address the obvious fact that those renovations have allowed her to charge higher prices year round. she didn’t invest $60k solely to reap the reward of a single $4.5k booking. also? she still OWNS the improved asset! there’s no “loss” here! just absence of imagined gain.
