Fredrik found that we didn't have a mathematical description of how salinity affects growth rate. We came up with two and show they accurately capture the salinity response of hundreds of phytoplankton strains - and other taxa as well. We can now model how salinity shapes population dynamics! 🌊

While in Iceland this weekend I saw something I’d never seen before: towering walls of white spray pulled from the ocean surface by gale force winds and carried for miles over the land like ghosts. These are called særok in Icelandic.
