I. cascadensis was isolated from a geothermal spring in Lassen Volcanic National Park, where temperatures range from 49-65C. Phylogenetically, it's a new genus in Amoebozoa, but @shaharsu.bsky.social and I were interested in how its proteins survive conditions that denature most human proteins.
