Sorry to dump all this here but I've been where you are and still struggle sometimes 😭 Socmed moves fast, and getting eyes on your work moves slower than you'd hope but I promise it'll build it just takes time 🥲
Show PostIt's also going to take some time to build up your business (a year or more of being consistent) as frustrating as it is a lot of it is a patience game :^( I don't know how some people seem to jettison off the ground with success right away, but I think more often than not it's a patience game.
Show PostAlso cons don't look at follower count at all in my experience!! I've gotten a look behind the scene at a couple cons and it seems mostly juried and that's it. They definitely don't care about follow count! I've run into "small" accounts at cons or people who barely have online presence at all
Show PostAbsolutely not- somehow moral ethics aside everyone that's still there is petty, nasty, and mean and I don't think it's worth it at all especially with algorithm issues. I'd recommend posting your shop on Instagram as that's where I find I've gotten the best "business traction" as well as on TikTok!
