Edwin Jaggers are respectable no-fuss options. If you're in the US, you can actually still find cheap vintage gillettes in good condition at lots of antique malls. Just go through the glass cases of small items.
Show PostThe most common damage I see on the adjustable gillettes, is bent doors and bent guards. They're made out of soft-ish brass and all. *usually* the adjustment and opening/closing mechanisms are fine, since they are internal. Just need to clean out accumulated soap and scum.
Show PostFirstly: my usual razor is a Karve, so I use a new safety razor. Vintage ones are still a fun and interesting to use though! The adjustment collar, the doors, closing knob etc. are all perfectly fine and smooth.

Ya, they are magic. I've been using a cutthroat for decades but they are a bit fiddly for daily use. Double edge safety razor though, easy and quick!
