I wrote large parts of The Dawnhounds while working full time. I wrote during lunchbreaks, and early in the morning, and late at night. It's possible, I did it, but I'd be lying if it I said it was the same experience as having a chill year at home to write The Sunforge.

My thoughts re the current discourse: do what you can. A career novelist can do more than somebody with two day jobs. It's not reasonable to ask them to do the same. That does NOT mean writers shouldn't write, but that they should write what they can in the time they have, which is often less.
