This is a HUGE demographic problem, especially with men of that generation, for whom driving meant status and freedom (of movement and domination). My dad, 86, now demented and in a home, still talks about driving. A decent transit system would not address the ego blow.

Here's a New York city councilmember threatening to get a bunch of grad students in trouble with the university administration because he doesn't like the recommendations in their research project. Wildly inappropriate IMO and CUNY should tell him to pound sand.
