It's extremely clear at this point that Todd Blanche has opened this probe for one reason: to block or subvert the real criminal investigation now underway headed by Raúl Torres, the attorney general of New Mexico. The technical term for what Blanche is doing is perverting the course of justice.

The President of the United States answers to the American people and to the law. If a president can just pardon themselves, then there is zero accountability and no consequence for abusing power. That is a king, not a democracy.

This is exactly why we need a constitutional amendment limiting the president’s pardon power that includes a hard ban on self-pardons. That goes for all presidents, regardless of political party.
