Most editors are absolutely amazing, so we’re only talking about a very small percentage here. Just as there would be in any group, whether it’s editors, voters, poll respondents, jurors, etc. It’s more about unacknowledged privilege and denied experience. But, yes, we definitely keep trying!

Publishing disproportionately excludes BIPOC voices. Some of us feel that’s not right and do what we can to help. White writers are by far the most agented and most published group by race. I just think the playing field should be level. Because getting a leg up based on race isn’t right, is it? 😏
