I’ve also made some changes to my business, as I want to model the idea that being stressed at work is not ok. This, however, comes at a financial cost.

The work we do in birthing and caring for our babies is not seen as actual work worth payment. I’m not entitled to statutory maternity pay and so find myself in this position. At the same time, I want to be present for my son, so I’m not returning to full-time work for some time.

So in my own way, I do have it all. Things are difficult, but I am managing to do work that truly fulfils me whilst being there for my son as much as possible. Happy International Women’s Day! #InternationalWomensDay #GenderEquality #Justice #Rights #motherhood

I’m also continuing with standing as a candidate in the upcoming May elections, as I’ve been able to take my son campaigning with me, and I want to show him that you can enter the world of politics, even if you don’t identify with those in power.
