The easiest example of where this can come in handy is the ellipse. When drawing an ellipse, you end up drawing every single angle at least once, and it's hard to control your line if you're rotating the paper WHILE you're drawing! The ellipse will reveal your weaker angles with ease
Show PostDoing this, you'll learn what angles you're most capable of drawing certain curves and which ones are a struggle. Keep those in mind, because you'll want to lean on the ones you're strong at when drawing and you'll want to practice more of the ones you're weak at when warming up for balance
Show PostIf you're wanting to improve your line control and you find that going slow during exercises like this still leaves your line shaky, there's other exercises you could to do work up to this where going slow isn't as difficult (an ellipse is one of the hardest shapes ngl) More info in the alt text! 📚
