AI is inherently uncreative. It’s the statistical average of existing information. And it uses its own output as part of that average making it more homogeneous as time goes on.
Show PostProblem-solving, the ability to construct a system that transforms input into the desired output MUST NOT be automated, it's the very thing that got us out of caves and to the moon, the ramifications of this will be catastrophic, even if they may take a while to show themselves.
Show PostThat loop, especially of finding that a particular approach is leading to a lot of friction writing more stuff on top leading to figuring out a different abstraction that then leads to new ideas is exactly what I love about programming. And you're right, LLMs completely take that loop away from you.
Show PostThis is something I see many people pointing out, from artists to mathematicians: the result is not everything, the *process* has intrinsic value. It's probably even truer for beginners who haven't honed their skills yet.
Show PostI have seen many people push back on genAI arts but accept genAI code, because they don't see it as an art form, nor a form of creativity. It's not something the end user can see either. It's disheartening that coding doesn't have the same reverence.
