We have a new paper on microclimate variability of growing season dynamics! Using in-situ observations (microclimate loggers), we found that growing season length can vary markedly on short (~100 m) distances, especially in tundra, where onset dates differed by up to 40 days in the same season.
Show PostThis paper would not have been published without the help and years of measurements carried out by @niittynen.bsky.social, @juliakemppinen.bsky.social and others. For me, this was a jump from the synoptic and climate scales to much smaller spatial scales, so the help was indeed needed in this work.
