I am not advocating for any outcome or tactic here. Nor am I advocating for Polanski or the ZiR motion. I merely suggest that it can be a good idea to steer these conversations (as framed by TV interviewers etc) away from the rights of states and towards the rights of human beings.

I have used this formulation myself and I don't think it's a "smartass response". From me, at least, it's an attempt to highlight the fact that this state's right to exist is evidently taken by many to supersede the rights (and indeed lives) of Palestinians

99% of the time the question means does the state have a right to maintain a particular ethnic-majoritarian demography and legal supremacy at the cost of everyone else. In the parlance of the West though people tend to squirm around this and leave it unsaid but implied.

Will write a longer piece on this, but one of the deep facilitators of anti-democratic politics has been the consolidation of media ownership, and the bombardment of shocking and salacious "news" in the place of grounded journalism which shows how the powerful are acting.

I posted a link to this yesterday, however judging by low interest, I lose faith in people. Politicians do not work in our interest, I wonder why many continue believe or hope things will change, when clearly nothing will, unless we the people, take drastic measures, not the ballot box, it’s broken
