I expect that consumer-facing AI programs will continue to improve and they may become much more useful tools for everyday life in the future. But I think it was a disastrous mistake that today’s models were taught to be convincing before they were taught to be right.

Something I always appreciated about what I think of as “old internet” or “early internet,” powered by links, is that it was basically a bunch of nerds saying “Hey, look at this cool thing”—and I’ve tried to carry that enthusiasm with me.

a major issue with video games is that they produce a bunch of people who consider themselves brain geniuses for solving problems that were designed to be solvable. as a remedy, we should be making more games that are actively and irreconcilably hostile to the player. thank you
