Damn I feel seen lol. Called mature for my age when I was a kid, including "old soul". Got a lot of respect from many of my teachers. Become an adult, boy did that switch fast in some cases.

Same for me and some of my ND family members. It's one of the tongue in cheek signs of being neurodivergent: "He's an old soul" immediately followed by "stop acting so childish"

From a very young age, I have always gotten on better with those older or younger than me than with those of the same age. This only changed because 1. 'Same age' is broader in middle age and 2. I mostly hang out with other ND people these days and age seems to be less of a thing then anyway.
