Other funny part I didn't get to in the column here. So Treasury, partially on lobbying from environmentalists, changed its cost-benefit guidance to set a 2% discount rate for 'non-commercial' projects, 8% for commercial. Roads aren't considered commercial. But KiwiRail is an SOE.

After nearly a year of working out 3 times a week, taking more time to myself, sleeping better and generally just watching what I eat a bit more, I am finally at my ideal weight, having lost 27kg (60lbs). Feels slightly bizarre to be in the best shape of my life having passed 40.

I've written extensively about homelessness policy on New Zealand and have repeatedly used the metaphor of disease and cure. I think it's accurate: homelessness can affect anyone, it takes a toll on mental and physical health, and it gets worse the longer it is left untreated.

That's why I write about policy, because I'm interested in how we can solve it. I'm not interested in language policing. The left has wasted a lot of time inventing new ways to talk kindly about homelessness while doing little to actually address it. I simply don't see the point of that.
