Working in the public sector this is exactly how I think things are going. Someone writes a bullet list of stuff. They ask AI to turn it into a lengthy report for a committee. The committee members ask AI to turn the report into an easier to read bullet list. Chinese whispers happens in between.

but it's also incredibly tiresome because there are very few free speech absolutists out there, battling for the rights of peadophiles, satanists, druggies and bomb makers. It's all just I should, as a member of the dominant culture, be allowed to say something offensive whether you like it or not.

This really shouldn’t be a remotely difficult concept. A freedoms are somewhat restricted by a contesting right or freedom. Any form of protest infringes on the rights of others to some extent, from their movement to their quiet enjoyment. We temporarily restrict some freedoms to allow others.
