Decolonial student: I dont know how you do it, sometimes I read a text and I want to burn it all down, look elsewhere, some other epistemology from elsewhere. Though you'd call me auto orientalist. Post colonial student: no, I'd say you were quite Nietzschean (Passionate transgender kissing)

i do not want to slap diagnostic labels on this behavior. so i won't. but i want to be clear that elizabeth holmes is very, very good at it, to the point where it will work on you even through a screen. take that into consideration when deciding whether/how to see the movie. but it is very good.

i don't know the degree to which nathan fielder is playing it up for the camera, but by the end of the movie, he seems to be at least partially ensnared by holmes. and he's nathan fielder.

one of the effects of this is that it's probably going to be really, really upsetting if you've ever been a victim of someone like this. another is that probably a lot of people are going to come away from this movie convinced Elizabeth Holmes is innocent, which she absolutely is not.

"you can see everything" was very good but also it's functionally three hours locked in a room with someone who is incredibly good at emotional manipulation, memory-holing, trickle-truthing, and that whole skillset. but very good.
