That makes sense to me; the meaning of their happiness is more specific and accurate to the point, not just saying 'I'm getting supersponsor registration tier' without any context at all. Telling someone why you're happy, specifically, works a lot better in a group conversation.
Show PostThat's also fair. It would fit organically into the context of the conversation, and wouldn't have been abruptly fired into the chat with no other prompting. Someone saying it out of the blue, I can entirely understand being less than appropriate or more unsuited to the conversation's flow.
Show PostThat makes sense to me, too. The group environs makes it a more tempting place to talk about a personal success or choice, but it's not necessarily appropriate to the purpose of that forum. Show PostIt doesn't mean that they'll find what they're looking for, but it's important enough to them that they'll try. Small successes or triumphs in one's existence can spur that kind of a sharing of context onwards, even if the thing of importance is only really important to the person sharing it.
Show PostI think it happens more often than we think for many people. Consuming the goods they do because of how others will perceive them, whether it's the car they drive, the clothes they wear, the fur suit maker they commission, the reg tier, the list goes on. All forms of seeking external validation.
