It's a rewrite. I kept the architecture, wrote the game logic in gdscript and moved the hot parts (meshing, world gen, lighting, fluids, rigid bodies) to cpp. Godot itself handles rendering, resource/asset management, audio, UI, built-in format parsing and networking.
