Pennsylvania is 1 of 25 states that uses Direct File to file taxes for free. Big companies like TurboTax and H&R Block lobbied against it. Instead of helping people, this helps corporations and will make it harder for hundreds of thousands of taxpayers across 🔴 ➕ 🔵 states.

The 18F created one is IRS Direct File. It's completely free but only supports 25 states right now. directfile.irs.gov Both that and freetaxusa are possible because IRS finally kicked TurboTax out of a 20-year monopoly. www.propublica.org/article/irs-...

USDS was basically DOGE before DOGE existed - a bunch of ex-tech folks working on government tech projects. Direct File, vaccine finder, passport tracking system... all USDS programs. But after cuts to staff, officials say it's unlikely such projects will continue 3/9

To clarify, IRS Direct File was built by the real USDS service *before* Elon started. It works great for the majority of Americans and is completely free!
