Okie-bred, fled to Vermont in 1998. This is usually the point in conversation when I share that the Pioneer Woman & I went to the same high school. Seeking books, ALL the dogs, yoga, pickleball, recipes, ghost stories, belly laughs & peace.

It's always a "shock" to narcissistic people. I guarantee they've been told very clearly and repeatedly exactly what the problem is, likely for years, but their reaction will still be "I was blindsided! This came out of nowhere!"
Show PostI’m never as at peace as I am when I’ve blocked my mother. Cut ties for 3 years and then tried to let her back in… but she can’t see or hear me as a person, so I lose almost nothing by cutting her out of my life. We don’t owe our parents anything…
Show Postim sorry to hear you've gone through this too. it really sucks to have to cut a parent out of your life, but it's for the best in some circumstances—which these exact types of parents won't ever understand. they don't deserve to monopolize our finite time and delicate energy. you did a good thing.
Show Posthave a dad just like this. can confirm he is not taking "no contact" very well at all. going no contact is the only respite some of us get from parents like these and yet they will still find a way to blame their children.
Show PostUnconscionable to be on “X” at this point. Just a cesspit. Except for banking; I do my banking there & don’t see a problem.
