Yup, they need guidance about what the children need (obviously based on your curriculum aims) and the children need prepping for a visitor so that they can ask pertinent questions.

Oh yes. You need both of course. My habit was to visit places of worship, meet with leaders of these communities and sometimes train reps to visit schools / host school visits. Sat in on worship / meetings as a participant observer across a range of traditions, asking questions, building bridges.

Totally agree around having strategies for active listening. Also whole class feedback prompts being - who can tell me about what your partner said/ something you and your partner agreed or disagreed on. Modelling and scaffolding building on others points.
