I usually credit Tank Police since it was the first anime that I saw that was explained to me as a cartoon from Japan. I had the typical 80s kid experience with stuff like Transformers and Robotech. If we wanna go by literal first animes it's Flying House and Super Book.

I got into a number of anime as a kid (Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Digimon, etc) but I don’t think it was until I watched Inuyasha and tracked down cheap bootleg DVDs of it that I saw the plethora of other titles before me and sent me down the rabbit hole.

The first anime I watched was either sonic X or Pokemon as a kid, but it wasn't until years later that I actually got into anime when a friend recommended I watch fma:brotherhood in 9th grade
