Authors, poets, illustrators and storytellers are happy to visit schools at any time of the year, not just on World Book Day (which is often fully booked months in advance). Celebrate reading on WBD and then arrange an author visit a few weeks later to build on it.

In my 20's, when I started working creatively with kids, I began to revisit what I'd enjoyed as a child. Trying to unearth what I'd loved about art, unpicking what I'd found difficult. I began to reconnect with the boy I'd been, and I tried to become the adult he'd have wanted to help him. 🙂 #edusky

A handwritten letter on my illustration work desk to my local MP, Mel Stride, asking him to help UK children's book illustrators keep our copyright during the current AI policy consultation ✍️ @mrsteveantony.bsky.social @alcs-uk.bsky.social @societyofauthors.bsky.social (Typed out in the alt text)

I adore picturebooks and totally believe that the best ones are a truly untapped resource in our schools and that they are works of true literary merit. Absolutely agree with #MacBarnett. (He is really is one of the great picturebook creators) www.npr.org/2025/02/06/n...
